Video Conferencing as a Guarantee of Witness Safety When Considering Sports Disputes

This paper discusses issues related to the concept of a witness and the specifics of his participation in a sports dispute. The characteristic features and theoretical assessment of the witness as a person
facilitating the administration of justice are given, the main attention was focused on the problems related to the right of the witness to access to justice. The author studies such an issue as witness intimidation, as well as judicial practice with the use of anonymous witness testimony in sports disputes, and also analyzes the views of foreign legal scholars.
The author substantiates the idea that the legislator needs to take better measures aimed at ensuring the protection of the witness from threats and intimidation in sports disputes. It is also concluded that the video conferencing system is a convenient tool that will allow a witness to participate in a sports dispute in a more complete and secure way. Such a step will, in particular, reduce court costs, which will improve the quality of justice and increase the efficiency of civil proceedings in general.
