«There Should Be No Poor and Average Teaching, There Should Be High-Class Work» (According to the Archives of the Department of Theory of State and Law of the Sverdlovsk Law Institute 1972–1976)

Abstract

The article analyzes the educational, methodological and research activities of the Department of
theory of state and law in 1972–1976 on the basis of unpublished archival materials of the Sverdlovsk
Law Institute. The department had a creative atmosphere. Special attention was paid to improving
pedagogical skills and quality of lectures, developing students’ interest in theory of state and
law, criteria for evaluating students’ knowledge in exams, and survey results, which is also relevant
for modern education.
