Abstract

The study of the development of scientific ideas, the problems of legal regulation that arise at different stages of the development of society, allows us to rethink the experience of previous generations, avoid mistakes and find effective solutions to improve the legal regulation of the sphere of social protection. And such categories of children as disabled children, orphans, children left without parental care, children from foster, large, single-parent families, require more attention when studying problems arising in the field of their social protection.

Analyzing the main directions of Russian scientific research in this area, the author highlights in the article the main stages of the formation of scientific ideas about the social protection of certain categories of children, identifies the main problems. He concludes that, despite the positive changes in the sphere of social protection of children and families with children in recent decades, some problems have not been solved and remain relevant to this day. In addition, the author considers it appropriate to assess the consequences of the application of various social protection measures for a specific category of children (their effectiveness), which makes it possible to correlate the need for social protection measures with the measures already provided and to adjust them if necessary.
