Certain criminological features of crimes committed in the shadow sector of e-commerce (illegal gambling)

Abstract

E-commerce has become one of the economic trends of the last decade. At the same time, taking into account all the positive aspects of this phenomenon, it is necessary to turn to the opposite side. The shadow sector of e-commerce is developing on an ongoing basis and involves an increasing number of participants, becoming accessible to citizens of any age and state. One of the criminal phenomena of this e-commerce sector is the organization and conduct of gambling activities using information and telecommunication technologies and the Internet. The author in the article examines the criminological features of this type of crime, analyzes the absolute indicators of crime, shows the factors that generate this type of crime. In addition, the article identifies the main signs of these crimes, describes the reasons for high latency. The author considers the method of commission and characteristics of the criminal's personality.
